End of the 2023 Season

Room 6 had heaps of fun on our last full day of school. Our teachers planned some fun activities and games, and even printed out certificates that had photos of us from the start of the year to the end. What a fun day!

And with that brings the end to the Room 6 2023 season…

We will miss you all Room 6!

Manaiakalani Film Festival – 4for$20

The cost of living has been on the rise lately. Gone are the days that our families could buy meals to feed us for under $10, let alone $20. Just to think that ten years ago, you could buy a loaf of bread and 2 litre milk from the dairy with a $5 note, AND have change to buy lollies. Room 6 has been working hard to find recipes that can feed families of four, and stays within a $20 budget.

Enjoy! Please leave a positive, thoughtful and helpful comment.

Myanmar Language Week

An email was sent out to Mr Burt about having a Myanmar Language Week after seeing all of our Pasifika celebrate their cultures. Well done to Nu Nu and Zohaidah who showed courage and pride for their culture as they performed on stage this morning. You spoke and danced beautifully girls!

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

This week marks the 51st Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. We celebrated it by learning about how this milestone came about it in class, singing different waiata, and enjoying a performance by our Kapa Haka group at School Assembly.

Well done to Anne Marie, Motu, Miriama and Justin who were in the performance. Check out Anne Marie’s solo at the performance.

Leave a positive comment. We hope you enjoy this short clip of Anne Marie as much as we did!

Tongan Language Week

This week was Tongan Language Week. We learnt a lot about Tonga, some language, and even a song. This week, we had many children step up and showcase their culture – whether it be through speeches, and even performing at our School Assembly. Check out Junior, Leni and Ariyana’s speeches below.

Life Education

This term, Life Education has come to PES. Room 6 had their first session on Wednesday. Our focus at Life Education is about Positive Thinking. We recapped what a growth mindset is – positive thinking towards scenarios, and closed mindset – negative thoughts.

Thank you to Sylvia, Monica and Harold for a fun session.

Term 3: Fit For Purpose

Our theme for Term 3 is “Fit For Purpose”.

We will be looking at the PE/Health curriculum to help us be more aware of our physical and mental fitness. Our focus will be on making goals, learning new skills, working out and MITEY. We will also spend some time doing some Cross Country practice to help prepare us for the end of term, which will be super fun.

Check out the video our teachers put together during the holidays for ‘Fit For Purpose’.

Artwork: Matariki

This week, Room 6 Literacy has been learning about Matariki. We learnt about each star, and the significance each star holds in. the Māori culture.

Our task was to create a Matariki scene, what we would see in the sky. On our stars are symbols that we think each star represents. Then we glued the stars in the position where they would sit in the sky.
